20th Birthday Banners

Post by Tchernobog »

It was twenty years ago this month that Blood started to flow from the hands of Monolith Productions out to the public at large. To celebrate this, the Blood Wiki will be hosting animated banners on its Main Page for each significant milestone starting with the release of the Blood Shareware in March:

I will never for the life of me understand why they removed those messages in the full retail version.

I wonder if there's anything in the Blood credits that might make for a decent banner?

So we have been playing around with video on the Blood Wiki and now have an expanded video version of the banner also available:

Just follow the link above or click the original banner on the Main Page.

So the banner stayed up a few days longer than it should have because at the turn of the month I was up all night saving the life of a calf. Needless to say I had some more important things on my mind at the time than changing the banner, such as getting more than a couple hours sleep.

Anyway, any suggestions for what we should capture for the retail release in May? :guns:

Hmmm...maybe something involving the many shades of our robed friends the Cabal?

Have not had the chance to post since life went to hell on me, but we did upload our retail release banner for May:

Also see the full video version with audio:

We wanted to continue to capture aspects of the game that are kooky, so we decided to go with the venerable Flame Guy bug. :veryangry:

I am not going to get into too many details, but we had to euthanize the calf we spent the previous month trying to keep going.

As far as kicks in the teeth go that one is pretty major. :banghead:

That sucks. Was it bad for you in a feelings kind of way or was it in a loss of money kind of way? Or both? For me it would have been emotionally bad. I love animals.

Just this last Friday I had to put down the last kitten we had. The others died and we were hoping this one would make it. He was very energetic and adventurous. Poor little dude. Didn't want him to suffer.

It is difficult emotionally sure, and we will take a financial hit for it, yes. It also has ramifications for our herd management. The mother of the calf in question has now lost two out of the four calves she has had, meaning that her place on the farm is in doubt. In contrast, our oldest cow is going to be turning ten this year and has given us eight healthy calves, never losing one. We have to consider the possibility that the mother herself may be the problem.

I also can not say that my own health has been improved by going out in all kinds of weather at all times of the day and night trying to keep the poor critter alive through one of the worst springs we have had in my own living memory.

And I am sorry to hear about your kittens.
