Quake 4 and F.E.A.R
Okay, they're both out. Are the good or bad? I'd like an oppinoin. I have a feeling if Quake 4 is like Quake 2 i'm going to love it, if its not, I have a feeling it'll be a Doom 3 copy cat. I have no idea what to expect from F.E.A.R Id iamgine a horror based swat team type game.
I have F.E.A.R. ^^ and its a REALLY NICE horror game that can make you paranoid =D, you walk alone (if you not escort someone to safety...) and you will not get scared like Doom3 syle, more like freaky ghost/srange stuff scared, with approx 11 to 12 hours Gamplay it is really fun to play (always outnumberd [hopefully not outgunned])
As for Quake 4, it is a mix of Doom 3 with Quake 2. The AI is relly good and they can actually shoot stuff =D, as for Ravens part in the game >_> they didnt think of their lovley gorezones as usual >_< but what they did think of was their wiseass humour XD

I've got Quake 4. It's basicly Doom 3 + Quake 2 in single player. As for multi player, it sucks. It's almost the same as Q3, but clearly, not as good, since Q3 MP is good. Also, I heard the netcode sucks. They ruined The Edge map as well (Over The Edge) by redesigning it. No game can come close to Q2 multiplayer...
As for the gfx, it's not such a huge system hog, but it becomes one if u max out the AA. Rather put the higher res than 8x AA. I personally play it on 2x.
It looks really nice all in all. But not better than Doom 3. Only less full dark areas, and bigger rooms. Also, it seems to have less details in levels than Doom 3. Like, not so many objects like broken tables, vases, computers, bottles and stuff... It's much more Q2 style of levels. Some will like that fact I guess.
I also have Serious Sam 2 which is a pretty good title as well. IMO better than first SS.

Quake 4 sucks, end of discussion, its not even fun, its more of a chore to play. I haven't tried multiplayer yet, the graphics are not as good as Doom 3. I feel this game was rushed. I was expecting Quake 2, but I am highly dissapointed. I am going to keep playing hoping it gets better, but I doubt it will. At least the players AI is good. It just doesnt feel like quake. Fighting strogg isnt even fun. I have yet to try FEAR.

I have FEAR and QUake 4, both games are awesome.
I'm not good at reviewing games, or actualy putting my thoughts into words. I will simply say this.
Quake 4 is an accurate transition from Quake 2. The graphics are awesome and the gameplay is some of the most consistant I've played in years.
I don't know what he means by it's a chore to play, HL2 was a chore to play. This is war, it's brutal, unrelenting and violent. Always be on your gaurd and watch for the Strogg.
And damn... it is gory.
FEAR... let me just say this. I haven't had this much fun with a FPS from Monolith since Blood. And this game is way creepier.
Alma gets under your skin, I have honestly felt chills up my spin and the hairs on my arms have stood up.
The whole atmosphere of the game is perfect. From the slow mood driven story and level design. To the balls to the walls action scenes, were the levels can get so full of dust, smoke and sparks it's impossible to even see your enemy.
This is Monolith's return to the macabre... and it's the best they have ever done with any title. FEAR is the FPS of the year, and the best one I've played in many years.
It is the game to beat this year.
Also, I would strongly like to recommend Serious Sam 2. Don't judge by the first demo. Download the second demo, Greendale level, it shows a more accurate depiction of Serious Sam 2's levels and gameplay.
This is probably the best time of year for us FPS fans. Enjoy it while you can.
