Blood 2 and SHOGO Reviews from PC Gamer's Past

Post by BEAST »

Hey, guys. Amidst this turbulent time, I thought you guys might appreciate these artifacts. They're PC Gamer's reviews for Blood 2 and SHOGO straight from the archives of PC Gamer's old websites. The link for Blood 1's review sadly doesn't work. Thought you'd find it interesting to see how Blood's sequel and its counterpart were perceived back in the day. I hope you guys are alright and safe. Be well, old friends.

Todd Vaughn, PC Gamer wrote:It’s in these smartly designed levels where Shogo really shines. In the MCA or on foot, there’s very little puzzling to get in the way as you cut down enemies in the race for the end of the level. Monolith wisely avoided CPU-hungry showpieces that drag down the gameplay, with levels that are, for the most part, short and sweet, with clearly defined goals. There’s very little instruction needed -- just shoot everything and get out. The result is a game that piles on the intensity by giving you lots of things to shoot, and less things to worry about.
Either that or the levels were a product of running out of time and money with several different projects on the go at the same time.

But sure, we will go with that. :evillaugh:

I did like the openness of the Shogo levels, along with the thoughtful ai placement.

Yeah, that was from the 20th anniversary when they were giving away concept art. Like what I have on my wall. :evillaugh:
