So, has anyone else tried out the new build of Nexuiz. I've been critical of it in the past, and truth be told I've used it as a measuring stick for how relevant it is to stick with DarkPlaces as an engine. However this new version really seems to shine.
If anyone is interested in trying out a server some time let me know. Note: this is for testing out net code possibilities in Transfusion.
I'm down. Here's my schedule for the next few days (eastern time, GMT -5 hrs):
4/7: free from ~5:30pm onward
4/8: pretty much free
4/9: free from ~5:30pm onward
4/10:pretty much free
So far Nexiuz just crashes my machine. I don't have any world models or v_weap models when it does run. I'll try to lower the graphics and a few other tricks but for now I'm out.
The zero models problem is usually a linux problem. The solution given is typing a command line into the console giving me "permission' to use the open gl renderer. I'm on xp so it probably won't help

Yeah, it wasn't bad. For 100 ms latency, performance was pretty stellar (good)! There were some noticeable hiccups in responsiveness, but that was only when there was lots of game action going on, and was most likely server-side CPU or bandwidth_limit "lag" (not directly related to network latency) causing the slowdowns.
Also, the engine looks great. IMO the settings in Nexuiz could use a bit of tweaking (HDR, bloom, etc.) but generally were VERY impressive. Normal, bump, gloss mapping were good. (Thanks, DX9, and LordHavoc! Kudos!)
