Question about Blood music

Post by Doomshadow »

I remember sometimes when I installed blood there was other music replacing the familiar one, some of which was similiar to them, does anyone know anything about this?

Are you speaking of the cd soundtrack versus the midi soundtrack? The cd soundtrack is of some of the midi songs at a much higher quality with more detail, hence what would sound like a different song at a glance but still be similar.

Probably that, although I remember some of the songs being very different from their original counterparts

I remember one time when I installed blood I had the more detailed songs by default, and I was playing around with the settings and got the normal song.

Also does anyone know where to find these versions of the songs, some of them very really cool :guns:

You need to tell us more details:

1) Where have you obtained that installation
2) What were you smoking at the time being

I don't suck in the burning fumes of eternal grass

I don't remember, It was many years ago, I was playing through the settings with sound and music and somehow got the music switched to it's normal version.

One is the midi version, the other is CD soundtrack.
What exactly is the issue here?

Chances are this is off-topic but...

Remember the "sound test" midi in the shareware version? It might have been the same midi in the full version but that midi ROCKED!

Okay, back on topic...

I remeber hearing somebody had a sound card that played the MIDI's differently than normal. It still played the same songs but with the wrong instruments if I remember right.

Even though I like the normal midi soundtrack better, does anyone know where one obtains these other songs on the internet?

All you did was turn down the CD audio all the way, after which point I believe the MIDI kicks in. You can download the audio tracks from our files page. ;) -Slink

Yup, that was originally going to be the Blood Theme song, but they decided not to go with it after all. It was probably too rockish to fit the rest of the songs, but I loved it.
Heh, I still remember how to play it on my guitar.

amulets & armor had similar unused songs in its release that wouldn't fit at all

it had even more unused songs in the 1.0 demo

"Rockish" indeed. They were probably right to leave it out. Oh well.

That midi sounded incredibly good on my ISA Ensoniq Soundscape... back in the day. :) I loved the samples on that sound card.
