Retexturing
Hi, I try to retexture tile0180.tga (it's the red brick wall on e1m2). I based my work on a picture of one of my wall (the brick color was pink - yellow).
The original was (64 x 128) :
So, it's the result (64 x 128) :
and the hight resolution result (600 x 800) :

It's look like better, isn't it ?

I applaud your efforts, however when you compair the two 64x128 shots, it seems the original has more detial then your new version. When the textures are scaled down in game, you're really going to see more of what you have going on in the 64x128 version. Also the grouting should be slopping out from between the bricks as you would see from the inside, unfinished face of a wall, rather than the grouted, finish product you are portraying.

I made the hi-res in 1024x512, i also added some details but I don't know how reinforce apperance of the grouting.

I am trying to remake that :
It's realy small (64x64) the new version will be a new picture of 1024x1024, but it's not easy to remake a dicky face like him ...
It's juste the beginning but I think it's a good preview

Oh yes, this is the hard one, I wish you luck
For the brick texture - looks fine for me
And 2 suggestions:
1. please don't post full size textures to topic (it's really annoying for modem users I guess) - post tumbnail with link to bigger ones placed somewhere outside the forum.
2. You should consider picking colours from original textures - this makes them look really closer to original ones. Also (I know that's just a beggining with the second texture) try adding some details - the original picture has some shadows and looks... dirtier.

Nice start. If it were me I'd resize the sprite to 1024x1024 and make it a layer on your texture so you could turn it on and off and see how it lines up with your texture. I'd probably try to have all the gemotry and circles and stuff different layer so you could move them around and scale them easily. I'd also use the dropper tool so I could get the exact color used in Blood. What program are you using GIMP, PSP, PhotoShop?

Well its just to use as guidelines it doesn't have to look good you just need to know where the lines are on the original in comparison with yours.Fresh_meat wrote:I used The Gimp
I tried but it's too fuzzy. If it were me I'd resize the sprite to 1024x1024 and make it a layer on your texture so you could turn it on and off and see how it lines up with your texture
