Damn it, I can't believe the code is still locked up. So stupid. Red tape. I DON'T WANT RED TAPE, I WANT RED MIST (shotgun related, in-game).

Who ultimately allows the source to be released? I know we know who actually possesses the source.

Not to mention that this could gain revenue from people wanting to play an updated Blood, a lot like may people did with Duke3D.

Blame a company that's filing for bankruptcy again, and copyrights lawyers that would jump on any non authorized thing that the company owns...
Hell if Atari goes under, who could sue for copyright? If there's no company, there's no owner. Yet the law says its still licensed and ehh...

Why does everyone tend to post exactly when the site logs me off so I can no longer easily see there are new replies?

When it comes to the topic, in a word: bummer.

If the community does get its hands on the source code (I know, I've become one of the source code fanatics), could imagine someone creating their own Blood equivalent of WG Realms 2: The Siege? That mod for Duke 3D really kicked ass. It was like Duke Nukem 3D Atomic Edition meets Army of Darkness meets Doom meets Heretic/Hexen meets Quake meets Unreal meets Fantasy RPG, and it had great music track choices from Age of Empires and Unreal Tournament.

Oh, if only we could make Blood expansions as awesome as this, or more awesome.

Agreed, that mod was friggin' badass! It's "you against millions" type gameplay remind me of the GZDoom wad "The Ultimate Torment and Torture". Man, it fills me with such longing how Duke and Blood get all this epic mods because of open source while Caleb is left rotting is his coffin (not to shun vanilla wads of course, Death Wish is amazing). Oh well... if I had the money and the skill I'd buy Bloods IP as mentioned above and get a working eBlood32 and then focus on new Blood sequels and prequels.
