A friend of mine is having an odd problem

Post by Drakan »

Recently, I loaned him a copy of Blood to put on his PC cause it has Windows 98 on it. Should go smoothly, right? Well it loads up fine and all, but then 5 seconds into the game (be it demos or playing it) it keeps minimalizing itself. I can get it back up, but then it repeats.

What on earth could cause such a dilemma? :?

I can almost guarantee there is another program in memory that activates a window or something, even a systray icon, that causes all other program windows to become inactivate for the moment.
* Just like if you were to click one window and all the other open windows would become "grayed out" (inactive).
* AIM instant messenger does it, even in XP. I am sure there are other programs that would.

* Try closing everything except your necessary system processes (use ctrl-alt-delete for the task manager).
* Hope he's not loaded with viruses and whatnot.

Sorry for the late reply, but thanks. I'll pass it along to him and see what results he gets.

I belive in windows 98 the only processes that need to be running are explorer and Systray.
