Question on intro movies/screens in One Unit: Whole Blood

Is One Unit: Whole Blood able to use logo.smk and gti.smk? Mine doesn't play either of them, even when they are in Blood's directory. It also doesn't display the Blood splash screen (with the gargoyle) that appears after these 2 smacker videos play. Was OUW Blood ever able to do these things, or is my copy of blood.exe messed up? For the information, I'm using the game in DOS with no command-line parameters.

Are your copies off of the game CD?

They don't play on any of the computers I try it on, so if your copy is off the original game CD, Monolith must have intended it to work this way.

You're correct. Perhaps it's possible that someone modded blood.exe to not display the opening cinematics? If someone had an official copy, they could verify this.

Read above. People are saying they HAVE official copies and it's not working. -_-

I've got an ISO of Blood OUW and the videos work fine on my Windows 98 machine.

IIRC correctly, them movies don't play because vdm isn't fully functional before the game actually starts. I assume this is why '98 does play them.

blood does play the cutscenes in dos since some version (forgot which one); all of them are also smk (smacker) videos. the point is that blood doesn't play the monolith and gti logo.

Sir, forgive me but I beg to differ!

I'm pretty sure that though DosBlood played Smk's, it didn't play the gti.smk and logo.smk. Dosbox doesn't and it never did on my old machine either, (just like cd audio, which I only get working on the 4th moon of the 4th year of every decade on my new machine.)

It's more of an issue of whether this functionality was stripped out by Monolith or not. Without a copy of blood.exe and cryptic.exe directly off of the OUW CD I can't verify this. The ISOs could contain copies that are modified to not play these movies (many don't include any of the game movies.)

Actually the cut scenes work on my main windows 2000 computer too. I did a clean install of Blood OUW and just ran setup.exe (I didn't change any options) and then saved and launched Blood.exe. But I didn't have any sound of course.
