Thats funny, I thought Raven's incarnation was the third "sequel"
1. 8-Bit: Castle Wolfenstein & Beyond Castle Wolfenstein
2. 2.5D: Wolfenstein 3D & Spear of Destiny
3. Full 3D: Return to Castle Wolfenstein & Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory

True, depends on how you look at. My point stand valid, Raven did continue a series past two games.

Well PREY doesn't rely on it's shadows as much as Doom 3 did. They're there but not the main thing in the game.
And I've yet to see soft shadows used in a way I like. In FEAR, Condemned and Oblivion they just don't look right.
Oh... by the way, as of this morning PREY went
GOLD !!!!
http://www.3drealms.com/press/preygold.html
That's the link for the official press release. The game will be released on both PC and Xbox 360 on July 11th (for the US) and July 14th (for the UK).
Enjoy and in two weeks it's PREY day people!

If you like shadows, check out "Thief: Deadly Shadows", the third installment in the Thief series. -Slink

that has nothing to do with the shadows people are referring to here (technology-wise)

Sure it does, Thief 3 has some pretty cool shadow rendering technology-wise. It was the first first person game where your character cast a shadow.

wrong, that would be duke3d or glquake (duke3d's shadows are a hack, and glquake's shadows are also a hack)

You're telling me quake and duke3d showed your shadow in first person? I doubt it, but if I'm wrong, then I stand corrected.
I know for sure they don't originally, but if there are hacks as you imply...

I think some of the pimped out Quake engines had FP shadows... wich would have been befor Theef III
But I could be wrong.
