F.E.A.R. multiplayer BETA public.

Post by Damien_Azreal »

Has anyone tried it?

It's available at fileplanet,

http://www.fileplanet.com/betacenter/fear/signup/

I'm trying to donwload it just for the performance test that's in it. But I'm only at 43MB after about 4 to 5 hours. (my connection sucks balls) I'm seriously considering getting cable internet just for this.

I don't give a s*** about the multiplayer part. I'm interested in the performance test that comes with it. I want to know how it'll run on my PC.

It's in the same style as Japanese horror films like "The Ring". And it's got a very dark, macabre kindof feel to it.

This is one of my fav upcoming games. And the gore effects are very nice... some of the videos show em off pretty good. KIndo flike Blood, you hit someone with a grenade or rocket... they explode in a big cloud of blood splattering gibs on the walls, floors and ceillings.

it has nothing to do with blood at all except it's by monolith.

I meant the gore effects are kindo flike Blood's. And true, it has nothing to do with Blood... but it still looks totally kick ass in all sorts of ways.

nowadays there are lots of gore in games... painkiller for example.

it's just that in BLOOD(s) the gore was STYLISH.

Okay... I've spent the past hour or so playing FEAR and I love it. :D Since it's beta it does have some issues that need to be fixed... but it's great.

Weapon balancing needs more tweaking, and the spawning in sucks. I got taken out four times in a row because it kept spawing me in the same place, and someone just sat there and took me out each time.

But the effects and graphics are beautiful. For once a game that does bullet holes right, instead of a little piece of art... it takes a chunk out of the wall.
I havn't spent much time with the slowing time down thing yet, but what i did do with it is interesting.

chunks instead of decals? f*** yes.

Now we just need an engine that makes rooms EXPLODE when you set a grenade or rocket off in the right place. Like you set a grenade under a desk, and when it goes off, the desk goes everywhere in peices, with a chunky hole in the wall and ground.

And I KNOW it can be done.
