3D Realms Closed

I had a feeling someone would post about 3DR going down. I had heard about it from an internet friend and my brother. Take-Two still holds the publishing rights, but there's no game developer running the game right now. There is an unofficial gameplay video that got leaked. I'm guessing this is the one(it's not a joke) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VRnv_tFKStQ

Of course, the real question is, did Monolith still have outstanding licensing issues with 3DR associated with Blood, and if so, will this development help or hinder a Blood source release?

Slink
This may be a boon to smaller, more productive devs like Monolith.
I hadn't thought of it outside the context of the economy but you've got a point Slink. You can't expect to ride on your reputation forever it seems. They took 10+ years to make 1 game, and haven't released any other within the past few years. Funding dried up. Investors probably backed out.

Take Two is now suing 3D Realms/Apogee over the 12 million they gave to them for publishing rights.

Sounds like it's getting messy.

This is just getting plain weird. Ah well, gives you something to follow.
Although I can see why, I do feel some of these recent hate comments I have found on the Internet are unfounded. They may have dropped the ball with DNF, but the Apogee legacy, at least in my mind, should be remembered fondly. After all, they have given us many things such as video game shareware, numerous video game titles, and were some of the first to adopt many of the things we expect from video game companies today (mod support, community involvement, hell, even source code releases). So all of these comments, made mostly by people who have no idea what they are talking about, are unfair.
My rant is now over. You may return to living your life in whatever sick, depraved way you see fit.
