What game sequel do you expect Monolith to do next?

Post by Ransu »

Monolith apparently doesn't have any plans for any new games or game sequels right now so I just wanted to take a poll on what everyone thinks. I know everyone's dying for Blood 3 but let's think before voting. :)

It's about money and survival, especially in the current economy.
Fear 3.

If they do work on F.E.A.R. 3, then I hope they don't screw it up like they did with F.E.A.R. 2. F.E.A.R. 2 had lost a lot of things from the first game, mainly the gameplay and the scary ambient areas where strange things happened.

I Agree about the voting and opinion...and the double posting as well. :evillaugh: There's too much lurking going on around here these days no matter what shape things are in.

The exact wording of your poll question was what do we expect. Not what we want

The brutal fact of the matter is new or exciting ideas get stuffed into a "future concepts" folder at most gaming development houses. The first title of any game receives the lion share of the ideas from this folder, with the full intention of starting a franchise- not a single game. If the first title catches on, the second and third will make sales no matter the quality involved. Only when a new potential franchise is identified or a potential niche in the gaming market spotted do we see the future concepts folder reopened.

So another way to ask your poll question would be "What title do you think would make monolith money?"

Hmm. I gotta say that because FEAR2 was just released, that won't be the next one.

I think that if they do decide to do a Blood sequel, it would be because they are out of options for other games, but I don't know if they would get the rights to the Blood "franchise". Personally (and obviously) I'd love for them to release another Blood title. Stephen Weyte is badass as Caleb, and that would be one of the selling points.

I gotta say, I was NEVER very interested in NOLF. Shrug.

Condemned? Maybe...

I CAN'T CHOOSE!! :( LoL. I don't know, man. Good question!

Blood 3 sadly doesn't seem a possibility to me, it would be too similar to the F.E.A.R series.
and as for a trilogy of Fear's well it's possible because of the economic value but i doubt they'll do it for a while.

Condemned i don't really know but again it's Horror and i just don't thing Monolith will be quite so repetitive.

So my vote it NOLF3 and TBH i don't think that would be a bad thing Nolf1 was pretty rubbish (a little too arcade like for me) but it was a nice fresh feel and theam.
NOLF2 i thought was brilliant, fun gun battles cunning weapons and lots of lovely sneakery and all with a light (if slightly odd) sense of humour.

A third could really push the boat out with regard to complex super spy gadgetry and a nolf with ragdoll would rule.

Yay, people voted! Monolith's site is still down so it kinda makes me wonder if they're preparing for a new game. Anyone else wanna vote and talk about it? :)

^^DustyStyx^^ I know you were kidding but it made me wonder about something. Shogo was a GT (now atari) title wasn't it?

When it comes to Shogo and Blood, you couldn't find a greater contrast between two gaming communities btw. Every post after 06 in the shogo forums is "Didn't we have some good times?" etc.

^^Ransu^^ Why would they shut down ALL the forums though? Save for FEAR (I don't know about condemned) every monolith forum is gone.

Interplay published Shogo, you can get a digital copy from GoG.com for $6. It's funny because the cultists in Shogo also used Domus Durbentia to taunt the player. It was fun to smash them with your mecha.

Shogo.

If you paid attention during the development of FEAR 2, Lith dropped a TON of hints about the possibility of a Shogo 2. From randomly comparing FEAR 2's mech sequences to Shogo, placing a Shogo disc in FEAR 2 shots from inside Lith's offices.

Shogo posters in the background when doing Developer Q&A. Also, Terry (or Snake Fist) in FEAR 2 is wearing a Shogo 2 shirt. ;)

I am a little sceptical about some of this "Shogo 2" rumours. Though there does seem to be some sort of pattern emerging, they have been rumours like this before (Such as whena LithTech 3.0 video came out).

If there is a Shogo 2, all I can say is it better be ported to Linux. The only place you really hear people talk about Shogo outside its fan base is on Linux forums these days thanks to the Hyperion port. Actually, they should start porting there games anyway. With id and epic starting the trend, and with 3D Realms and Valve looking like they are going to do it, it would be in Monoliths best interest to hire someone like Ryan Gordon and just get a damn port released.
