Since I already took these images for a thread on another forum...

Real men have spent 12-gauge shell casings, bowie knifes, and fencing nails on their desks:

Nice to see you around these here parts again dosgamer000. :shooting:

I started playing the classic Doom games again completely independent of the release of the new one, so my desktops have been reflecting that for the last two months:

The Ultimate Doom and Doom II I played through using Chocolate Doom, while I am using dhewm3 for both Doom 3 and Resurrection of Evil.

I did try to get it running in fairness, but I got hit with the "Unknown event 'isLowered'" message.

Are u using both patches? Not just 1. U need to use all 3 downloads.

Yeah, I used all three patches in order. Seems to be a problem for anyone not using the Windows version of Doom 3 like the one sold on Steam:

It still feels weird playing the game on a machine that can actually handle it. The whole thing feels a lot more run and gun now. :shooting:

It's not made for Linux. I still don't understand why people use Linux. Makes no sense. If you're a gamer why not use windows 7. Linux is a waste of time for gamers. Wish u could play it. Version 7 is gonna be epic.

Well, that is an argument we have had before, and since you were unable to convince me of it then I doubt you will be able to now. And since I have laid out my own reasons before I do not see much point in laying them out here for you again.

Meanwhile I will keep enjoying playing my classic Doom games with source ports. Good luck with Version 7.

Have fun. Fixing to play Doom 4 today. Had to upgrade GPU to play. Finally gonna get to play it as long as the GPU arrives. Gonna be epic.

You know if they ever reboot Blood u probably won't get to play it. Because of Linux. Maybe that'll change your mind. :evillaugh:

Actually, both Devolver Digital and Night Dive Studios are very Linux friendly, and considering they are the leading lights in terms of expressing actual interest in this, you might be surprised.

Not too much point in speculating though. But we did get the Shadow Warrior reboot.

That is true. And I hope you do get to play it. I'm just messing around with the Linux crap. U know I hate it so I got to mess with anybody who uses it and is missing out on something I know is good. But I've been reading that a lot of new games are not working for Linux at all. Like the new Doom for example. I see this as a growing trend to help support windows in general.

Linux gaming has grown by leaps and bounds from when I switched over full time in 2007. More than enough for me to have a significant backlog of games that I have purchased and not yet played. And with most of the major engines and game creation kits now supporting Linux out of the box, things look to only be getting better in the future. At this point DRM is a bigger fight for me.

As for the new Doom though, the final nail in its coffin was when I learned that it shipped with Denuvo. Even with all of my complaints about Bethesda and Zenimax, I never saw that one coming. Skyrim was one of the few recent AAA releases to boast a healthy modding scene, so to see its parent company employ anti-tamper software is really concerning. Especially for a game that boasts the name Doom. So much for going back to basics.

Which is why I love my source ports. Which we are also never going to see again now that Carmack is gone.
