Hows is it that a 256 meg card plus a chipset that is 3 generations ahead, gives only slightly better performance than GF2? Does it suck that bad? Incidentally, the card I threw out to make space was a Creative GF2 32MB GTS.

Using a P4 2 Ghz, 512 MB RAM and an XFX GEF5700LE 256 MB card, Doom-3 was barely playable in 800x600 with no anti-aliasing and RoE was even less playable.

Blood-2 was'nt bad at all. It was fun, had personality but with toooo many flaws and poor production values. If you want something rather disturbing, I'd suggest a character change. It should put you in the shoes of someone relatively young, clueless and innocent so that the events of the game are m...

Introducing characters, weapons and enemies in manuals/docs

This practise is pretty much dead in modern games but the older games always described every weapon and enemy in their manuals and docs. Why practise is better? Does giving a short intro to all the ingame players make one eager to get into it?

Yes, murky waters, even in places which you know for fact are shallow, can be quite disturbing for no apparent reason. However, I've dived in the harbour a few times. I wonder what the brain thinks under condition 1?

That is also correct. You should make sure that the floor of the upper sector is literally higher the ceiling of the lower sector. Just look at the value at the top of the screen in mapedit. Remember that the Z values in mapedit are reversed: higher is more negative, lower is more positive. Ex: -11...

The flash light can't be real light if the shadow sizes and intensity don't vary. Just a compromise. Static light sources producing soft nay, patches of, shadows of varying sizes wrt focal length were there in the earliest engines but the level would have required a recompile each time. What is need...

Quick question, Does Doom-3 employ dynamic shadowing ie does the shadow of an object becomes larger and less dark as you move a light-source/flashlight closer to it and smaller as you move away or make appropriate changes in focal length? Since the lit area of the flash light in Doom 3 was very smal...

Sorry but the first part is a shortcoming in the engine which does not allow islands or links visible to each other, without the mirror effect. For example, if you have two holes in a floor very close to each other such that you are intended to see both of them at once and you are using links, they'...
