Spambots have figured out how to make user accounts and I can't/don't know how to update the forums to combat this. I've been deleting 3 or 4 accounts a day for the past few weeks and it's getting annoying. As near as I can tell they are doing this just to provide links to various commercial website...

True, but you probably aren't picky about it when people say "That was a great movie." Even though the movie still exists and we could watch it again, at any time. It is refereed to in the past-tense, because we have finished watching it, and know what happens.
