*HUGE BUMP INCOMING!* :twisted:

As a developer and a fan of Blood, I was wondering if it were possible to revive this project using the modern power of Google Drive for the contributors, or perhaps even Dropbox. This way the source will not get lost, and every contributor has access to the files he or she needs.

Aside from this, I've also pondered about the engine choice. I know DarkPlaces is a capable engine, but I always figured that something sector-based would suit this game much better. DarkPlaces is kind of obscure, and I honestly struggle to think of any indie developers that still use it.

GZDoom is a free source-port for Doom, and it has pretty much all the features that the Build engine has and more. For moving sectors you can use poly-objects, and just like its cousin ZDoom it also supports voxels. As an experienced Doom modder, I have to say that GZDoom is probably the most advanced of all the Doom source-ports, and should be more than capable for running Blood. It also supports models, so we could even import existing Transfusion models into it.

Best of all: WAD and PK3 editing is for everyone. All the resources are included in the WAD or PK3, and this way Transfusion can truly become a community-driven project.

If you would like to make this happen, send me a private and I will reply to you with my Skype-name. With enough contributors, we could start a Skype group and slowly but surely work our way up to something playable.

Cheers, and let's keep the spirit of Blood going! The ball is in your court now!

Hi guys. I was wondering if there's any way I can find the strategy guides for Blood and Blood 2. I'm talking about the books on top of the picture.

I didn't know where to post this, so you got my sincere apology...

Sorry for the late replies.

@Morkulev:
Transfusion has been largely eclipsed by BloodCM.

@Acecaleb:

Amazon or ebay would bee your best bet.

I've found the one for Blood II used on ebay. But for Blood will be difficult.

Blood's 20th anniversary is coming up next year (it was first released May 31st 1997). Would be neat if we could get something related to Transfusion running again :)

I have actually started "porting" it to the much cooler FTEQW engine (also quake1 based like DarkPlaces). "Porting" because I suck at programming... but it is more or less working already. Still a few more major bugs and issues to fix before I want to release it to the public, but generally I am in favor of releasing early and often ;) No promises at this point though.

My plan is to focus on a (not necessarily fully faithfull) multiplayer focused release, with the medium term goal to add the monsters back in for a Left4Dead like coop experience... i.e. no full campaign only some fun maps with higher replay value.

FTEQW is cool because it has a lot of advanced rendering features and is under active development (don't be fooled by it's horrible website). It also has splitscreen mulitplayer and nicely working Android/webGL ports. It also comes with a much nicer HUD and GUI system (EZhud and a CSQC menu) which I am currently adapting for Transfusion. And it has IRC and XMPP chat build in, which should allow you to easily connect to your friends COOP games.

But right now I am honestly still at the point to get the current state of Transfusion to work without major issues. I guess I am 80% there for now.

P.S.: Is there a place where I can download the enemy models? The source repositories and the released .pk3s seem to only include the enemy code, but not the actual models.

to be honest I can't help with that, but it has been over a month and no replies to your question. I just wanted to ask you how things were going? Did you find the enemy models?

I guess some of them might be hidden in the .wad of the very first quake mod? But I have so far focussed on the other things. Overall I made some good progress and it is working fine except for the in-game HUD which needs some major changes. I thought I would be able to finish something before the end of the year, but I was a bit lazy and didn't work on it for a few weeks... so yeah slow progress. Never the less it works fine and I will most likely release something before the 20th anniversary of Blood1. For course if someone wants to help out...

Nope, this project died a long time ago when it's team members abandoned it.

Also by this point, not only is the Blood Community pretty much a abandoned ghost town but also it's a game now forgotten in the sands of time only remembered by hardcore FPS players back in the day sadly enough.

Seems okay to me, especially for a twenty year old game. :drinkblood:

The Blood Community is alive and well and in good hands with the Blood Wiki. Certain "fringe" sites that had more opinions than information have died and no longer function or are blue.

Also, Transfusion began as a port for Blood to function on modern operating systems because of the lack of source code. The emergence of programs like DosBox made Transfusion obsolete.

We at the Blood Wiki refuse to confirm or deny that we are the shadowy hand behind every situation, suppressing the will of the people through economic and social depression, all without overt bloodshed or widespread public knowledge.

Instead we suggest you open an investigation into the extent of Russian interference in the Blood community. Seriously, M210 and BME are amazing.
