Release dates

Post by Daedolon »

I'm in dire need of confirmation of the release dates of Blood, Cryptic Passage, Plasma Pak, The Chosen and Nightmare Levels. If anyone of you can point out for sure, or just point out the correct release dates for any of these games, I, and the whole Blood community would be very delighted.

This is what I have to work on with for now:

Blood
  • 1st of May 1997 (US)
10th of February 1998 (Europe and Japan)
    20th of June 1997
    31st of May 1997
Cryptic Passage
  • 9th of August 1997
Plasma Pak
  • 15th of October 1997
Blood II: The Chosen
  • 20th of November 1998 (US)
9th of March 1998 (Europe and Japan)
    31st of October 1998
    June 1997
The Nightmare Levels
  • 1st of June 1998
    1st of June 1999

Here is what I have found from various references, all are US releases, I have no idea when EU/other releases were...

Blood Shareware (internet) - March 7, 1997
Blood Full Gold - April 25, 1997
Blood Actual Retail Release - May 16, 1997
Blood Formal Retail Release - May 31, 1997
Cryptic Passage - June 30, 1997
Plasma Pak - October 15, 1997
One Unit Whole Blood - July 15, 1998
Blood 2 - October 31, 1998
Blood 2: Nightmare Levels - August 1, 1999

Because Quake had been out and well established, and Unreal and Half-Life were already released, they didn't want to be too dated. But as we all know, the publishers forced the release WAY before the Blood 2 team wanted to, which resulted in, well, Blood 2 as we know it.

The only date I'm not really certain on that I posted is the actual Blood retail release date. It was publicized as May 31, 1997, however, it actually hit shelves before then. Monolith themselves made a note about it themselves in their last "weekly" Blood update here, which is why I quote the 16th.

What I think we should do with those date, is to confirm and decide which is for what release that the dates would make any sense.

why blood realesed in japan europe in "10th of February 1998"
and not in 1997
its strange that europe has delay at some games...
and Blood 2: Nightmare Levels realesed 5 days before my 10 birthday (:
i just played the blood 2 chosen at that year
or it was 1998 can't remember ancient past
