Hello gang,

I've tried to fight it, but I no longer can. In the coming months, you'll be treated to screen shots if Blood2 assets within the Kiss Psycho Circus demo.
There will be a test release, and maaaybe an upgrade to the retail version assuming all goes as planned. It won't be blood2, there's no source code for the changes necessary. Instead, we'll pretty much have KPC with b2 models, maybe with a few values changed, and that's it. If there's any interest, some sort of multiplayer might be on the table, but it's a little iffy at best for now.

Hey that'll be interesting. Please replace the Ice Minigun from KPC with the Vulcan cannon from B2. Model and sounds.

Will you be able to swap out enemy models too?

Besides the source what are the limitations?

Some enemy models will work, those with child models might be too challenging. Essentially, the gooey ones will work best.

The Vulcan is interesting, hadn't given it any thought. There's only one *bullet like* weapon in kpc, I was thinking m-16, but Vulcan is the better choice. The whip might be hacked into something bullet based, we'll see.

A major limitation will be the textures. B2 DTX can be converted to kpc, but the pallets don't match. When toying with Normandy, the b2 skins looked over exposed, there's no short term solution for that.

Keep those suggestions coming please.

Should have mentioned windows 10 is an issue to deal will as well.

Well forget the textures for now. Simply having Caleb and friends run around KPC maps while fighting KPC monsters and B2 monsters with B2 weapons would be cool enough.

As for the weapons:

B2 Vulcan Cannon should replace the Ice Minigun
B2 Howitzer or maybe the Singularity Generator with a reskin should replace the arm mounted Rocket Launcher
B2 Combat Shotgun should replace the Magma Cannon Shotgun ( you could also use the Shredder Combat Shotgun from B2EC )
B2 Napalm Cannon should replace the big Dragon Lava Cannon ( you could also use the Auto Grenade Launcher from B2EC )
For the melee weapons like the axe, claws, or sword couldn't you just replace them with the Chosen's knives?

As for the main characters:

Caleb needs to be the Demon because he has the most evil looking environment.
Ophelia could be the Beastmaster because I can't think of any reason why not.
Gabriella needs to be the Starbearer since his main weapon is the ice minigun and hers is the Vulcan Cannon.
Ishmael needs to be the Celestial because of the magic lightning melee attack which would be a pain to get right with his knife model.

Those are some excellent suggestions Vgames. I was thinking about Caleb everywhere, but the chosen do dovetail nicely. I could hack a knife together for the celestial but your idea fits better than what I had planned. Some of the levels require the whip to progress, so that's off the table for now.

I've started initial work on the gasbag>druge lord conversion. I'll have to shrink the DL due to the size difference.

The fat lady>conversion starts today. Should I replace the grubs with boneleeches? Grubs die after 2 jumps and the leech might work better .elsewhere.

For the whip I'd just leave it as is. Not much you can do with the whip without the source except reskin it. Make it a steel whip. That would be cool.

I honestly don't remember all the monsters since I haven't played the game in a long time and info about this game is scarce. And my old disc won't install anymore. I'll have to re-buy it digitally.

But I'll try to look into the monsters.

I''ve turned the d.lord and the d.priest around in my post above, apologies. I've also had my first fail-to-save accident. I need to get things in order before starting; four installations of blood2 on the same computer won't do, unfortunately. The only reason to go with retail with this is to get to kpc's multilayer- that goal represents success for this little experiment. Single player is really nothing but retraining for me as I've forgotten about half of the various tricks I'd learned over the years.

Also, it's okay to have a negative opinion about this project, feel free to say so. Windows 10 emulation of directX 7 is poor to say the least and I'm not sure if the dgvoodoo2 wrapper will work for everyone.

I'm still using win7 so I'm good to go. I really want to see this in action singleplayer wise. But MP will be cool too.

I haven't seen anything that you've made yet so I'm waiting for screenshots or videos before I give feedback.

Its a rough start but it could be worse. What do you think is causing the model issue with the characters? Incompatible model versions? Maybe load the B2 models into the KPC model editor and save it using that editor. It could be that you're still using the skins from KPC with the B2 models. Not sure though.

Oh, I'm not too upset, I just started most of the model work yesterday after all save for gabby, whose pic is a week old. The chosen model is rendering correctly as far as I can tell, it's just missing chunks that happen to be associated with child models (Starbarer is gauntlets, boots and breastplate- right?). Anyway, I've found a node that never renders in the game, when I renamed all the nodes in Starbarer"s child model head, The child model appeared in the character selection map pictured above just floating with no texture where the regular model head was attached. So, somehow all the various models of the player class are linked- they are there even when the viewer can't see them. Also, Gabby's node renaming is only partially done. KPC is very picky about model nodes. I knew there would be issues with the player models, what I didn't realize was how seriously kpc takes those issues. If you try to load the game with that gabby model, you'll get an MFC error. Unlike blood2, all ducks have to be in a row in kpc, and I'm still figuring out what the game wants.

Most of my time spent on this so far has been with the screen saver mapdata scrips. The only things they control are player triggered events in the map, and the reason they're so tempting is there's a seriously good chance I can script cut scenes with them. So, far I've only affected simple changes, when player starts the roadhouse (starbarer) map and heads upstairs for the thorn blade, all that letter box stuff with the third person view, special fx, and sounds is gone, player just picks up the sword, oh ho hum.

I'd like to replace raven with a taunting gideon if possible.

Next up, weapons.

Texture/skin work will come later.
