Tech Idea for Blood 3
Hey
This week I had a good idea on how to make a nice new Blood game and created a test application (gif)
The idea is to take animated 3D-objects for Monsters and directly convert them to pixeled 2D-sprites (about 128x128 resolution) in real-time. And instead of 8 different view angels you have a flawless look on the monsters. And smoother animations....but still the 90's graphics style
Thought about the same tech with the guns (not those you collect, the one you hold in the hand).
Could be a nice way to make an old(but new) styled Blood game. I am glad I could develop it
You can see the sprite-conversion by looking on his feet!!!
The monster is taken from another game I just finished. Thought it could be cool to try a blood-clone once more

Now that is a truly interesting sight caleb88. Aside from the pixelation, is it really that different from experiencing a 3d model? Maybe I'm not judging it correctly. Can you do the same with something a little more humanoid? Maybe a robed figure?
Re: Tech Idea for Blood 3
Of course
The advantage is that I can make bad textured 3D-models of Caleb and the monsters =)

It is really not all that different from how Kilstrom did the original models - only here everything is done on computer rather than digitizing a sculpted figure.
Nice to see you back around Caleb88.

Re: Tech Idea for Blood 3
Now that is some kind of sexy right there! Although the technical sided still escapes me.
Re: Tech Idea for Blood 3
Basically, it's 3D with voxel style ? It looks really cool !
Re: Tech Idea for Blood 3
I am intrigued by your work, caleb88! What engine do you use? I like that your work resembles Blood 1's look and feel, but with voxel-like 3D sprites. It reminds me somewhat of Voxelstein 3D and bits of Transfusion. It reminds me a little bit too of Diablo II, in that its engine was still sprite-based, but had more flexible additions and enhancements. What are the capabilities of your engine?
Is it possible to pull off scripted sequences or character interaction in your engine?

Everything is possible in this engine!BEAST wrote:I am intrigued by your work, caleb88! What engine do you use? Scripted sequences are no problem too. The only thing that makes it maybe a little complicated for beginners is the map-building in the 3D-tool Blender.
My idea is to fill the maps with hundreds of blood sprites that make the player happy
I will try to create something playable.

I honestly don't have much of worth to say but you have my support for this project Caleb88.
