Playing Classic Blood
I was wondering if there was a program like JF Duke 3d, or JF Shadow Warrior that allows Blood to run in windows XP with a good interface of options, or if Transfusion had a program for running classic Blood, using all the old Models and Sprites, but with sharper graphics. What dose everyone use to play Classic Blood?. I know about (WinBlood / that doesn’t work) and other programs like that, but I was wondering is anyone knows of something different?
What is a good source for playing Classic Blood?

In order to play Blood under Windows XP you'll need one of following:
- WinBlood - but as you've said it's buggy and doesn't work :/ It's sad thad IceColdDuke stopped developing it :/
- BuildXP (http://buildxp.deathmask.net/) - nice solution to get it working on WinXP, but the sound is far from perfect :/
- there is another solution (based on BuildXP that popped out on this forum some time ago, it might be worth checking: viewtopic.php?t=1074
- last solution I can think of is via DOSBox, but it requires high-end PC to get it running smoothly. Here's the only related topic I've found: viewtopic.php?t=798

In a more direct answer to the question, there is no open source code for Blood, so there are no modern ports of the engine to play on a modern platform like the other games you mentioned.
Transfusion also does not have the source code, so it has no capability of playing Blood content directly either.

"high-end" these days isn't quite what's required for running Blood in dosbox. An Athlon XP/64 3200 is more "average" nowadays.Jethro wrote: - last solution I can think of is via DOSBox, but it requires high-end PC to get it running smoothly. I'm probably doing something wrong then. I've not been able to hit a consistent 20 FPS on a Core Duo. And that's after following the various DOSBox threads over at Vogons. Perhaps if I compile it locally.
I use win98 for Dos games and stuff and XP for everything else. I just use enough drivers for win98 to get by.Slink wrote:Where do you find all your drivers? Yes, DOSBox v0.65
from the dosbox.conf file
[cpu]
core=dynamic
cycles=auto
I have also tried the different the simple, full, and normal core types. I've also punched in different values for cycles, between 40000 & 60000.
I'll admit that I'm not running at the recommended, bear bones rez of 320x200, but you would think that 320x400 wouldn't put THAT much more of a strain on it.
I've read that DOSBox runs a bit better if you can use the Gravis Ultrasound emulation. I've tried that and I don't think it helped much, the sound was also a little fast. Chipmunk Zombies!?!!!
I've thought about disabling GUS emulation to see if that helps, but I've not tried that yet.
It's not like it's unplayable, it reminds me of playing Blood on a 486. It's just that it's disappointing to think that DOSBox isn't pulling off a decent emulation given a CoreDuo.

But what I’m trying to figure out it is if classic Blood can run through the Transfusion interface.
If not can you guys please tell me where I can find WinBlood from Iceduke... I understand that it is gone now, and I have had a hell of a time finding it, but it has got to be around somewhere
please tell me what I want to know I MISS BLOOD
I WANT BLOOD
where else can I run around stabbing guys with pitchforks, and blowing cultists into flames with the flare-gun. Or blowing axe welding zombies and fat, acid vomiting butcher zombies away wit ha sawed-off 12gauge, or my personal favorite, shooting up a room of enemies with the Tommy-Gun

Consider Transfusion as brand new game based on a old one rather than any kind of conversion. TF is NOT compatible with Blood files format, as well as it got incompatible network protocol.Goregasmic Genocide wrote:But what I’m trying to figure out it is if classic Blood can run through the Transfusion interface.
So, the whole point of this project is to port Blood to Quake engine rather than running original game with modified executable.
Uncle Google is your friend Here it is: http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/bloo ... p?download, but be warned that it's barerly playable because of it's early alpha stage.Goregasmic Genocide wrote:If not can you guys please tell me where I can find WinBlood from Iceduke...
