Generaly we tell people to download the latest version of DarkPlaces and use that executable to run the game with. It may solve your problems. Sorry, I'm not verry Linux savvy, Willis can help you out alot more than I can.

You can get that here.

Well, with my little experience on linux, none of it is with version 1.0

Please try downloading http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/bloo ... p?download (1.1 beta 3), extract it, chmod transfusion-glx to 0755

If you continue to have trouble, run ./transfusion-glx -condebug

and post your /basetf/qconsole.log here

My initial thought is that DarkPlaces requires the zlib library to be installed to read packed files.
