I should still have the Transfusion 1.01 CD burried in one of my CD boxes, so I suppose I can always regenerate an ISO image from it. I can't remember exactly who's cooked it in the first place... Probably Cruaich. Does someone still have the original ISO image somewhere?

Could you post that link somewhere on the website (in the files section for instance)? It could interest other people.

It's a single file that is an image of a CD. It can be stored on your HD (also downloaded via the internet).
When you burn it to a blank CD you get a replica of the original CD ROM whose image you made/downloaded.

So, for example, you download an image of a bootable CD, you burn it to a blank CD and get your bootable copy.

So, just to make sure I understand, I'd basically be burning a game like quake or doom to a blank cd, and it acts like a more authentic cd rom original?

Well, every pirate copy of the CD is authentic too, isn't it? :) Well, mostly. ISO is "an entire CD content in one file". Then u use Nero or Alcohol to burn the content of that file on a CD, or u use Alcohol to use the file as a virtual CD drive. U geddit, sorta like zipping (or rar, whatever) an entire CD content. :)

Ahhhh ok I see. And by "authentic" I mean the real thing. A copy is like a clone. But you know what I'm on about at this point.
