[spoiler warning] I can't complete a mission in SS2

Post by Anonymous »

I can't complete a mission in System Shock 2.

I'm currently in the Deck 6 mission.

After I finished my job at the Recreational deck, SHODAN ordered me to go to the Engine Core, and give the ship's controll to her hands. But when I go to the Engine Core, nothing happens.

Another problem in this mission: at the begining of this mision, I've got a message from Dr. Marie Delacroix. She said she has important information for me, but she stucked at "cargo bay A". But where is the "cargo bay A"? There are two cargo bays in the Engineering deck, the A1/B1 and the A2/B2. I searched both, but I can't find Dr. Delacroix.

Here's the solution I used to give you this advice (I've never visited this place yet): http://www.the-spoiler.com/RPG/Looking. ... ck2.3.html

Now, briefly:

At this attempt you won't be able to do any of those two things you've mentioned. Your goal now is to get to the Ops deck. You'll need to find Bridge acces card (in Escape Pods section of map), head to the Bridge, go to Crew Quaters to find Shuttle acces card than head to the eleveator at the beginning to go to ops. You'll activate the engine core and find Dr. Delacroix another time you'll get to this level (later in the game).

I did everything, I'm on my way to activate the engine core, but how can I do that?

Maybe this?:
Q.Hello, I read your published FAQ's and they are very good. but I
am stuck...I am on level 6, in the command ops area, where I just got
the OPS Override key. and the computer inside the game said to get the
card and then go back to the Ops command center or something like that,
but when I go back to any of the areas (even where I got the card, and
right under that floor) I cant find anyplace I am supposed to do to
advance the story... I know I need to override the RICKENBACHEN imbulicle
so I can take the tram back to it and go there..but the door still wont
open, so can you please tell me what to so after getting the ops override
card/key? Thanks! :)

A.Well, head back to Deck 4, Operations. Go into the bulkhead which
takes you to the barracks. Go down into the red room, take the middle
door and enter the room. Done. Then you've got to go to the engine
core on Engineering.

Or this?:

The cyborg will have destroyed the generator, so you have to hack the
replicator machine in front of the bubble elevators, and grab the
resonator thingy. Climb down to the shuttle, use it on the shield
generator and then run back up the ladder. There'll be a huge
explosion.

Don't know what the exact problem is (can't find anything similar in FAQ).

See, that's where I got stuck as well. Except there's a glitch there that makes it so you CANNOT explode the shuttles, apparently, so I just have a save sitting there wishing this game was a tad less buggy.

That's interesting. A friend of mine is currently playing this game and he's fighting the Many (much later in the game, post RICKENBAUER), so he somehow managed to do this.

Ah, once I've got to this point I can give first-hand answers :>

Go to deck 1, get to the engine core upper level, you should notice a doors with keypad near it. Type in the code SHODAN provided you (last email from deck 4 - check it if you dont remember the code). Once you get inside and press a button SHODAN will talk to you again.

I've searched for her there and didn't found her so... f*** her :P I don't think it is needed to find her. Or, and it's somehow more possible, you'll find a proper cargo bay A later in the game. And what's even more possible she will be already dead :P

Nearly got stuck in the same place :) But than I've noticed that there are two shuttle control computers (and so there are two shuttles): one of them is operational so you disable the shield and destroy the shuttle manualy. The other one was destroyed by Cyborg Midwife, so you produce a resonator in replicator, just like SHODAN ordered you to do, and then put it into shield generator (drag it over it and drop). Remember to use it on shield generator of OPERATIONAL shuttle, it won't work with the one you've already destroyed.

EDIT:
damn, can someone remove my post above (not this one, that shorter one). I can't do it myself.

Further Spoiler Warnings: Anybody who hasn't played the game fully should not read these remarks. Just to be fair. I don't what to be crucified and disembowled mideval style for spoiling the surprise. If you haven't played the game, and happened to read this part, it's your own fault.

I played the entire game, but there was no way to save Delecroix from being trapped in Cargo Bay A. Isn't there a wy to do so? And another thing: How can it be possible to join the Many, while their Hybrids and Monkeys keep attacking me? Is it possible to join the Many (despite the fact that they screwed up the minds and bodies Von Braun's inhabitants)? I must admit I was hesitant to fulfill Shodan's will, but the missions were very straightforward, so I felt there was no choice in the matter, unless there were other allies I didn't know about or certain choices I had to make as in Deus Ex. It paid off it the end. But there are certain questions I have: Why does the game have Korenchkin as a mere Brain stem instead of a frightening boss? Also, is there any way of discovering why I was put to sleep in given an implant job? Didn't Irrational intend you to visit the surface of the planet of Tau Ceti? Should there have been more development behind Shodan's sinister purposes? And finally, do the cinematics, beginning and end, do the game much justice?

Anyway, this game is absolutely brilliant. Strange that Doom 3 didn't top System Shock 2's scary style. I could imagine Blood 2' s remake containing an edge of System Shock 2 in abandoned apartments, dark alleyways, haywire Cabalco facilities (a la Half-Life), and shopping centers. It's a shame that no company tried to do an expansion pack for it (someone shouldhave tried to create an expansion for Deus Ex).
