Max Payne 2 issue

Post by Drakan »

Just out of curiosity... Is this game supposed to come with 2 installation discs or 3? I ask because I tried to install it just now and it asked for a 3rd disc - which I just found out didn't come with the box. What gives??? :?

I'm not sure if this may help or not, but you could try placing disc 1 back in the CD drive? Maybe it has the required data? if that doesn't work then i recommend taking it back.

Nope, I tried but it didn't work. I don't even remember where I got it from. (Was some months ago...)

Oh ok. Well, i was looking around the net to see how many discs it requires, not much of a success, but wikipedia says and i quote "PC: CD (2 to 3)", if thats meant to make sense? You've probably done this already but have you looked in the manual? Or at the back of the cover?

All the book said was "follow the instructions".

When the program tells you to insert disc 3, does it say which file it's looking for?

What the hell? The instructions told you to follow the instructions? to teh maxx0r. And I don't usually add the "x0r" on the end of that.

Well, if there's no such file on any of your 2 CDs, or already on your HD, then it looks like you got an uncomplete copy. :(

There were different versions of Max Payne 2, the first release of the game had 2 discs.
A later release had 3 discs, added content (Dead Man Walking levels and such).

Well the instructions weren't very helpful, (its funny how most aren't these days) But i think predator is mainly correct, i think you have a incomplete copy too, sorry Drakan.

Yes, but just to make sure - I assume you DID try to launch the game anyway (ignoring those "enter CD3 warnings). You can't launch the game from your HD, right?
