So I finally played Duke Nukem : Manhattan Project
I've had this game for quite a while. Came with my graphics card, amongst other things and I was surprised to see that it was a platform game with decent graphics and gameplay.
Now I'm not the type of guy for platform games at all, but Duke's charm persuaded me to play. I fired it up and gave it a shot. In the beginning it was good fun and I am a really patient man, but as the game went on it became what I feared it would : just another platform game.
The sequence is : find chick, find keycard, exit level. It never varies. Ever. Every fourth level is a 'boss' mission, where you must destroy some beast with a lot of health.
This game would be absolutely nothing, if not for Duke's wisecracks. Duke saves it somewhat, but he can barely save it to the same degree at which he saves cheap 3D females.
I give it 39% and an 'A' for 'avoid'.
Above review is susceptible to bias, due to the reviewer being insane about Blood and not much else.

I’d say, I’ve seen platform games much better than this one. But wtf? This is Mr. D. Nukem! And he saves the whole game which turns out kinda boring and repetitive. I guess they wanted to make a game returning to good ol’ DN1,2 with good 3d graphics and the same concept.
Well, they managed… At least it took some of my time to beat it, but I’ll never gonna play it for the second time.

Actually, they also had Land of the Babes. No comment yet, except in the cutscene, Duke looks like his whole head and face had surgery... Oh, and Duke3D is also on psx, with kickass music if anyone wants it next month. (running low on BW right now).Hellen wrote:'Time to Kill' is for PS only, as far as I concerned. (And I guess this is the only Duke for PS)
Uh-huh, let’s also remember Duke 3D for Sega, Duke 3D for N64…
And don’t forget Penthouse edition!
Penthouse edition?
Surgery? Ya know the joke: Which FPS character requires less number of polygons to make his head?
Finally he had a surgery to make his cubic head look more… human!
Well, Penthouse edition isn’t any new addon episode. I don’t know whether it’s official and stuff. What I have is one single level with chicks from Penthouse inserted here and there on the beach, and Out in DC episode with the same chicks but only as textures.

Well, it's ok in combate. He needs to look good when killing and to protect his eyes from all those explosions and their lighting...
But I read somewhere long ago that he never even too them off when doing the ladies.
Oh, and yeah, he had no shades on in the sidescroller games. I've seen the screenies.
