I have Painkiller too, I must agree with a lot of what ÐÐ said. The "True" ending wasn't worth it, too much difficulty for an ending that doesn't even fit in with BooH's story... I was expecting something like that though, so I suppose it was really an unnecessary effort. Military Base has got to be one of my least favorite levels, it ran too slow, it was too big, it had those tanks... I hated those tanks, they killed me too easily until I had their locations memorized. The worst thing about Painkiller in my opinion is the jump-running. In deathmatch it makes hitting any player good at it too hard.

Well, since I’ve got nothing (useful) to do during the short summer nights, I decided to take Gila’s advice and try Painkiller on DVD (I’d better say nothing about the copy I’ve got…).
Firstly I wanted to complete Battle out of Hell. But… what the f***! I passed few levels and started the original game once again just to remember the ‘good ol’ times’. A year passed since I’ve played it last time, but I found I’ve become slightly more skillful…
Okay, here’s my review on the Battle out of Hell levels I’ve completed so far:

1. Orphanage.
Hell! This is… this is awesome! Brilliant! It’s hard to play this level and don’t get off at least for one time  .
Kneel before the mighty power of the Asylum and the Orphanage! For both levels besides the pleasure brought me fear. The fear of the dark.
Farwell, Mr. Pinhead and the cenobites! Now the grotesque orphans, pinocchios and the ‘chef’ would replace you in my nightmares. This is scary, very scary… And stylish. Like a good horror movie.
Play it!
* I can hardly imagine how one could never get hurt to get the tarot in this level. This must be a reeel pain in ass, so I didn’t even manage to try.

2. Loony Park.
One more great level. Yes, it has Dark Carnival feeling in it. But in the first place Loony Park reminded me of Silent Hill 3(and 1) with its Amusement Park. I know someone can beat me for such statement, but it’s true. The color scheme, the amusements, the whole picture - everything is almost identical. They just don’t have carousel horses wrapped in blooded bed sheets and pink rabbit mascots here.
Rollercoaster ride was just fun but stupid(as well as a mission for getting the tarot). Just sit back and enjoy your hellish ride, watch enemies shooting at you and don’t even try to shoot back if you don’t wanna fail the mission.

3. Lab.
Most definitely this is anything, but not the laboratory. They could call it ‘Something Something Military Research Center’. Yeah, thanks god, they've replaced those s&m boys with none-s&m cyborgs! But… I didn’t get the idea with the nurses from the German porn. Was it a kind of a joke? I guess so, cuz their hypodermic attack=no attack at all. And these, could I call 'em... ‘fartmen’…
Poor architecture, poor enemies. Not very good.

5. Dead City.
It is better. Much better. Though city doesn’t look that abandoned. It’s full of life! They’ve got zombie crowds which are very fun to blast with rockets. It’s also fun to see how pieces of flesh form new dead men. I was surprised with the guys puking out of the windows(wonder why they just puked and didn’t throw garbage). The sucky-sucky part of this level is spiders. This mechanical… things don’t match neither the level nor the game. And they didn’t scare me, as all spiders do, but just annoyed.

6. Leningrad.
As Gila mentioned, a) They mistook Leningrad for Stalingrad(Leningrad was not THAT bomb damaged) and b) They mistook Painkiller for Wolfenstein.
I thought this game won’t force me to kill Nazis all over again. Now I was mistaken!
The city of Leningrad has seen much more horror, famine and death and not THAT much fascists in its streets. Well, enough history, back to the game…
The first time I heard the Soviet Union Anthem, I was like *jaw falls open*… and then I was killed by a tank. Yes, I like the old Anthem better and I don’t like when I have to die THAT fast. Uhhh… this level was not easy, I must say…
The final funny part was a statue of a guy with a hammer. He looked so lonely… like he had to leave his girlfriend with the sickle in Moscow… (lol)

That is all for now.

tarot is easy here...

anyway asylum is better than this. there are couple of stupid moments like undestroyable dudes whom you can kill only after you kill the orphans, one of the stupid puzzles of PK.

nurses were cool. yes. =) average level.
5. Dead City.
TOO GRAYISH. bad.

I have it, I have yet to actually play long enough to get through Orphanage though... I've started being less of a wuss and always starting on the hardest difficulty available to me. Probably not such a good idea, but I'm sticking to it. So, I might try again today, who knows? I can tell I'm going to hate Leningrad already, and pron nurses? Ha. This is going to prove interesting.

Post-edit: I'm gonna need to work on my quoting...

Recent events prove that quite a few must improve on their quoting, little brother.

It's wise to play Painkiller on the hardest difficulty available. I'm sorry I started on Insomnia and not Nightmare. Silly of me. Whenever I get 'round to playing Doom Thrice and the abomination that is Hype-Life 2 I'll be sure to play on high difficulties.

Honestly, I prefer Half-life 2 to Doom 3, Doom 3 has much that is wrong with it, whereas Half-life 2 exceeds expectations.

And I'm actually doing Trauma. I think my Painkiller is confused, as it let me pick it from the start. Or I accidentally hacked it, but I doubt that's even possible.

Just played it...

OH. MY. f***. GOD.

Amazing! The Gore rocks your face! The physics rock your spinal chord! The Guns Rock your ears!

It's f*** brutal. I love it.

Kinda stuck though. In the catacombs. You know that crazy guy you have to face at the fire pit? Kinda lost on how to beat him. Cause it doesn't seem to be the routine "Plug him with shells 'till he's dead".

Look at the ceiling - destroy part of the ceiling which blocks light.
When a beam of light appears you must just lure that guy under the beam.
The light will kill him.

Glad to see it's unanimous among the Bloodites, Painkiller is awesome. I should replay the entire game, it's been a while. I went back and checked out the first chapter again, but then got kinda Painkiller'd out. And now I have more motivation to play Painkiller, my brother just got his new computer. He wants Painkiller, we will likely do some LAN play.
