Shadow Warrior Source is on the Way

Post by Gila »

just read some 3drealms forums, charlie wiederhold said source is almost ready. so my bet is that it will be released soon. it's not blood of course, but i'd sure as hell replay that game in the sourceports!

Well, Shadow Warrior has a lot of the Build enhancements that Blood had, it might be possible to hack it to read blood data, but I guess we'll find out.

It's about time! I know that this will earn me the scorn of many in this forum, but I think that, out of all the BUILD games, Shadow Warrior is my favourite. I spent many a long day building maps for it, experimenting with its limits in terms of drivables and multi-level buildings. Now there's a game I wouldn't mind making 3D models for.... except I wouldn't get any work done on Transfusion.....

*mumbles*

napalm, must find napalm

but seriously. SW did have a few very nice engine features over other Build Engine game. But the game content is what annoyed me, they tried too hard to make is as over-the-top as Duke3d and ended up making me lose interest. Sorta like postal 2.. its a fun game, but they try too hard to make things that aren't important important, removing some of the fun.

Sword was nice, though. As was killing yourself by fisting a stone wall.

s***, I'm a regular poster at 3DRealms and I f*cking missed this. Dammit... I'm getting careless.

Either way this is great news, I've got the JFDuke3D port with high res textures and it is awesome. Can't wait for SW to get the same treatment, and maybe the source to this will give us the needed code to tear Blood apart.

They havn't gotten every texture done yet, but what is done looks kick ass. I wish I would've taken the chance a few years ago and polished up my texture skills and I could've contributed to the project... oh well.

Last I remember there are ten different texture paks. And they are all pretty small in size. Give em a try and you'll love em.
