Doom 20th Anniversary Music Collection Released!

Post by Ransu »

Happy 20th anniversary to Doom! I worked on doing Doom, Doom II, Heretic, and Hexen's soundtracks just like I did with Blood's and I worked on a special new project for the 20th anniversary of Doom. You can find more info and download links at the following Zandronum forum thread: http://zandronum.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=97 :D

I made an update now. So far it's just a wad file, but the version for Risen3D will be up "around the same time as the next Risen3D update" according to Abbs. Changes include improved bass and treble levels, new samples, new effects, and balanced volume levels.

EDIT: See my other post below for fixed version.

You'll need to download it again. I forgot to fix the MAPINFO in the wad. The songs were not playing on maps that reused the songs such as E2M5 and E3M5. Here you go: http://www.mediafire.com/?4vwzoftlt4a4yuy

Also, here's the songs packed into a zip: http://www.mediafire.com/?ytjp86b43833i27

Wow man, sounds pretty awesome! Would you mind if I made a few scripts to support other source ports?

Well I already talked with Abbs from Risen3D and he's going to host it on the site plus he includes a play list file with Risen3D made for my soundtrack. What other source ports did you have in mind? I thought the wad would work on just about anything.

Since it's OGG and not midi/mus it needs to be defined in some ports. I could get it working with Edge (with a script) and PrBoom+. Also, I think Doomsday needs a script last time I checked but that was years ago.

If it's exclusive to Risen though, it can wait a little. R3D needs the good boost :)

I released my Heretic music and updated Doom and Doom II's music. I'm working on Hexen right now and putting up preview songs over time. Check the Skulltag thread. :)

I released Hexen's soundtrack a few days ago. I used some special effects to make it sound almost like a real orchestra played the music. :D

I'm not sure how many have noticed, but Skulltag is pretty much gone now and the staff went to work on a new source port that is based on it named Zandronum. I moved my thread to the Zandronum forum. Link in the first post has been updated. There's also some new things in the Zandronum forum thread.

Ugh, Zandronum. There was a big discussion about that at Doomworld.

I'm sure 99% of the dumb part of Skulltag's community will join Zandronums', so if that's what they were worried about then they'll surely follow. I would've called it something like Skulltag+ or something.
