Linux Or Windows Transfusion Server
If I wanted to setup a semipermanent Server.
Do I need to run it on Linux or can I use Windows.
I have more windows PC's that would not notice the server in the bacground.
After all the Blood 2 one has been on for 2 months.
& if so how do I do it.

I run my TF server under WinXP.
I use Linux only for my work, and Windows for fun.
Now, this is how you can set up your server:
1) In your root TF directory create a batch file called server.bat (or whatever you like). It should contain a line like this:
transfusion.exe -dedicated 8 +set hostname "THE COOLEST TF SERVER" +set fraglimit 17 +set timelimit 17 +set sv_public 1 +exec maps.cfg
Obviously you can change the hostname, number of players (for example -dedicated 3), fraglimit and timelimit if you want to.
2) In the subdirectory called basetf create (or edit) a file called "maps.cfg".
It should look like this:
samelevel 5
alias map1 "changelevel e3m7"
alias map2 "changelevel b2cabana"
alias map3 "changelevel bb4"
alias map4 "changelevel b2a15"
alias map5 "changelevel bb2"
Again, you can add more maps and change the number of maps (for example samelevel 13).
3) Make sure your firewall allows you to set up a game and launch your server using your server.bat file.
Just make sure your files have proper extensions, like server.bat and maps.cfg, not like server.bat.txt and maps.cfg.txt - many people had problems with that.

Which Version
OK
That all makes sense.
My only question now is what version do i run as the server.
1.01 or the 1.1 beta.

I'd use 1.1 Beta 3. You could even use the patch Willis recently posted: viewtopic.php?t=799&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=15
Just make sure you tell people which version you end up using. It'll be nice to be able to join a Transfusion server again.

At this time, I'd recommend not using that patch until our next beta is out (and that patch will be included by nature).
The reason for this is networking code has changed, so clients connecting with an older engine may experience input loss to the server (IE, if you hit weapon switch 50 times, it will likely only happen 20 times).

server not connecting
I have a running server that works on our lan but have some dificulty connecting to it from the Internet.
the router is setup in the same way as for the Blood 2 server but using port 26000.
I can connect to the IP address but the game never starts. I get the message connected to "server name" but then it hangs. then when I disconnect I crash the server.
I have not been able to get the 1.1beta3 server to run yet but still trying.
Do I need to do somthing different on 1.1beta3

1.1B3 server running
I have an 8 player server running but still dosent display in server list when search for severs is used.
When you search on the lan its fine but internet is still no go.
you can play on 82.133.99.224:26000
If the speed is ok I will up the user count & add more maps.
Any map requests or comments let me now
