Aren't they making new Futurama here nowadays? That means you'll probably get to see them one way or another in a few years.

Nope, it went off out of production after its 4th season in 2003.

I think the thousand-dollar-CGI-calls killed it. It's a darn shame I tell ya!

Aren’t they talking about making new episodes though, or does direct to DVD not count?

Many of the writers want to continue the should, and if they do, I hightly doubt it would be televised, or at the least, not on Fox.

Animation is a really expensive project to do on their own, which is why almost no animated series has tried to continue after losing support of their funding network. The only one I can think of off the top of my head was The Critic, which did a small series of CGI internet shorts, which didn't last long.

Fox was funding the lot, weren't they? The show wasn't really cancelled, but Fox just stopped ordering episodes. I doubt they'll be able to fund it all without big ol' mighty Fox backing them.

I remember seeing something about new futurama in one of my glances at the TV, probably these straight to DVD things.

Maybe...... Well even though futurama may not be continued on television at least the dvds would be fine, i haven't any problems with that. Hay its better then it being discontinued for life.

I think there were too many Star Trek jokes on the show to allow that to happen ;)

And since this is general chat:
Lizzy, I thought you were never coming back?
