Looking For Some Advice On Getting A 2nd Hard Drive

Post by John91783 »

I am going to add another hard drive to my pc (want to go big, a 300gb drive)... I was wondering if anyone has any advice on this (or a different one you know of) hard drive

OH AND I AM LOOKING FOR A GOOD DEAL

I heard that the new SATA drives are better than the IDE drives (faster)

this is the best one I found.... please tell me what you think:

Code: Select all

SATA work at full speed only in SATA/RAID controllers. otherwise motherboard would remap them to be IDE drive... although plugging SATA is really nice, very convinient cables... i hate huge IDE cables

heh, first gen SATA calbes had very weak connections, mine always fell off whenever I opened my case.

New ones however have more of a snap to them which is nice.

John: with the current price curve, I feel the best bargain still lies in a 250GB hd, though if you really want the space, its your call. As for prices, Newegg is usually a top choice, though remember to check chiefvalue.com , Newegg's sister site, prices and shipping between those two sites often fluctuate, though for HDs, Newegg is usually the lower overall price.
