512MB SDRAM
GeForce 6800 GT

I'm going to be upgrading to a:
Athlon 64 3000+

I'm hoping this upgrade will last me 2 years or more.

I'm getting a new one. Laptop until that.

I'm also hoping to get my hands on a 1996 vintage Pentium 100Mhz with SoundBlaster 16, 24MB RAM and Windows 95.

Can anyone say "DOS/sound compatibility"?

I haaaave:

Pentium 75mhz
No idea what ram it has now
1 gig hard drive
s3 video card of some description
Sb 16.

Blood didn't run the best on this :p

Pentium 2 300mhz (my machine for aages)
128 megs of ram
Nvidia TNT
6.4 gig hard drive
Soundblaster Live originally, but I think there's an SB 16 in there now..

AMD 500mhz
128 megs of ram
TNT 2 M64
10 gig hard drive

My current pc for old games:

Pentium 3 450 mhz
160 megs of ram
Nvidia TNT
3dfx Voodoo 2
( might put in a spare Voodoo 3 or get a Voodoo 2 SLI setup for graphic card overkill)
2 x 10 gig hard drives (win 98 SE on the first, win2k pro going on the second)
Soundblaster Live (for now)

My main pc

Amd 3200+ XP
Nforce 2 board with Soundstorm audio
1 gig of ram
320 gigs of storage
ATI Radeon 9700

I have a collection of various other parts I could probably use to build 3-4 more working machines, but I'm quite lacking in the amount of SD ram I have.

Indeed. Doom III for example. It doesn't run too well on my comps. I'll need to upgrade someday to fully enjoy it.

Well, I have:

P4 3 GHz
1024 MB DDR RAM
Sapphire Ati Radeon 9800 256 MB
2x 80 GB Segate Barracuda HDD
Built-in soundcard (6-channel version of AC'97)

Doom 3 works mostly fine on my computer (with details set to high, not highest ans FSAA 4x (not 16x)) but still I think this is not game I could enjoy... Well, it looks fine but its hmmm... they just wanted to make it scary so hard that they made it annoying for me.

Damn Willis, that sounds like a nice rig. I won't be able to upgrade mine for a while. But I'm planning on waiting until the new 512MB cards start shipping.

My next card will be a 512MB X800.

What's the difference between the ASUS deluxe mobo and the regular one, same model?

The deluxe has 4 more SATA1 ports (with Raid 0,1, 0+1, and 5 compatability), and has a second gigabit ethernet port onboard.

I mostly went for it for the extra SATA controller with 4 cables, as an addon card and 4 cables costs more than the difference between the Deluxe and non-deluxe version, and I will be starting with 4 SATA drives, and want the room to expand if need be (optical drives are starting to use SATA).

So I should pay the extra $25 for the Deluxe? It's good to be future-proof, I guess.

Also, with the GF 6600GT PCIe, there's a more expensive version with the name "Top" in it (same model otherwise), but it's like $60 more.
I don't know what it does.
