Incredible Musicians.

Post by Slink »

All of the below-mentioned instrumentalists are incredibly talented, and musically gifted. These are all soloists (not solely soloists, but still). :)
I thought this would be a beautiful thing to share with all of you.

Guthrie Govan - UK - mostly electric guitar - progressive and classical, new age, most wonderfully ridiculous tapping skills ever witnessed by man. This guy plays EVERY style.
Image

Thomas Leeb - Australia - acoustic guitar - slap fingerstyle, slightly unique use of tap harmonics and guitar percussion, delightful syncopation.
Image

Jeff Schmidt - USA? - many types of bass guitars - incredible diverse solo styles, experimental, classical, it's awesome.

Andy Mckee -Kansas, USA- harp guitar! Beautiful harmonic tap

Yeah, that guy is definitely awesome, especially if he has played with Dweezil Zappa. He seems VERY musical.

I absolutely believe that each is entitled to his own opinion, and by no means do I intend to start a pi$$ing contest. Nuno has quite a reputation and history behind him anyway.

Still, I have yet to see a player whose musicality closely rivals that of Guthrie Govan. The guy is godly. Speed is not everything, but he has it.

"Having many times been called the finest guitar player ever to have graced the planet, Guthrie Govan is set to turn the guitar playing world on its head..."

Some quotes from "The Greats" on the www.cornfordrecords.com Guthrie site:

Joe Satriani
"Totally freakin' awesome!!! this CD put a grin on my face a mile wide!"

Dweezil Zappa
"Every time I hear Guthrie Play I feel like I have to fasten my seatbelt. He is an alien. His technique and execution is staggering. Ultimately what is most impressive about him is his musicality. He has total freedom on guitar... BASTARD!"

Richie Kotzen
"Guthrie Govan can do anything he wants as a guitarist. He has total command over the instrument. I love to watch Guthrie live as he always plays something new that the rest of us would never have thought of..."

Rob Balducci
"Gutrhie is the most versatile guitarist I have ever heard."

See more unincluded quotes and listen to track samples at www.cornfordrecords.com .

Guthrie is fantastic, no doubt. The guy really knows the guitar.

I just cant totally stand in awe of these technical players without some real songwriting skills behind them. Its just all kind of robotic and un-vibrant

Heheh, I think you are talking about Dragonforce.

Heh, it's like all 32nd and 16th notes. They are pretty corny. I guess I just don't get them... ;)

You gotta hear his CD, man. The music pours out of his hands like liquid sex. There is no need for lyrics, as his guitar sings a story to you, and takes you on a musical journey. :evillaugh:

Of course, I am also a fan of Dreamtheater (albums, not concerts). So, you can see that my taste has little discretion... :|

Wangho, I'm'a PM you... 1 sec...

Nuno's Extreme stuff is brilliant. Especially from the "Three Sides Of The Story" album. I think Extreme was quite underrated.

Dragonorce... I hate them based on the name alone. Those guitarists are
a bunch of dorks

III Sides was Extreme's best and most brilliant, I agree. Nuno's solo album 'Schizophonic' and his Mourning Widows debut are also brilliant, def check those out
